While characters will remain playable across seasons, when a new one begins all previous characters will be moved to what’s called the ‘Eternal Realm’ – where they’ll be able to keep playing, levelling up and collecting loot. Some of this information was previously revealed in one of the game’s quarterly updates last August – that also confirmed that the first season won’t be available day and date with the Diablo 4 release date, it should arrive “soon after launch” but will also feature an interesting mechanic when it comes to characters. What’s more is that while this content will of course include new mechanics and features, it’ll also expand on the game’s story and lore. The information comes in the latest issue of Game Informer, which is currently running with the game as its latest cover story – from an interview with the game’s associate game director Joe Piepiora who spoke on the game’s future plans, in which it’ll be taking some pointers from the long-running post-support additions to predecessor Diablo 3.Īs spotted by GameSpot, Piepiora said he was reluctant to use the term expansion, there’ll be regular seasonal updates for Diablo 4 about once every three months or so following the game’s launch.
Players looking forward to Diablo 4 have plenty in store for them not just when the game launches in a month’s time – as we’ve now been given some further information on developer Blizzard’s intentions for the game’s post launch content.
